The UK's best sustainable dance music festival is now underway at Liddington Warren Farm, just out of Swindon - only one hour on the train from London Paddington. This is your last chance to experience some summer festival magic before the autumn is fully upon is. Here's the latest from our roving correspondent on site...
Tales from Waveform: part 1 After a short journey and painless entry onto the site, we arrived at Waveform feeling good and hoping the weather stays on our side. The campsite is at the top of a lush green valley and we quickly got set up and went exploring. After a night of pre-festival festivities, we woke to… well, rain. Yep, the sky was grey and the air was full of drizzle, but thankfully, before long the rain had gone. By lunchtime the rain had gone, and the weatherman was promising more sunshine to come.
Fast forward a few hours. The area is looking really good. The stages and tents are being assembled and the beautiful décor that makes Waveform truly stand out is going up. Waveform has arrived, bringing loads of festival spirit with it. Last night’s late arrivals had been camping for the night in the floating lotus domes while their vehicles were parked in a lay-by waiting to get onsite in the morning. Only at this type of festival will you find that real community spirit that is so hard to find in this day and age. Everyone is smiling, everyone is happy, and everyone is ready for the last big party of the summer, featuring the country’s finest breaks as presented by Archangel; premier-league underground psy trance from probably the most well known psy collective - Tribe of Frog; and militant techno with wicked visuals from Project Storm, whose laser light show on the mystic chalk hills is set to be truly legendary.
There are still some tickets available on the gate but they are limited so hurry. End the season with a Wave.
“Serendipity, utopia” said a happy smiling proprietor of a Moroccan tented café. What it means is beyond me but it was said with love and that’s what Waveform is all about.
